The Ride for Susan
Christchurch, Saturday May 10, 10.30am
Gather at Cathedral Square
The Ride for Susan raised $1,850!
Tthis update from Max Cook:
"Maxine Cook’s Herceptin Riders took to the streets again, in Christchurch this time, on May 10th, with a four-hour motorcycle ride, barbecue and auction of donated goodies to raise funds for Susan Marshall’s Herceptin treatment. A forty-strong group set off with a roar from outside the Christchurch Cathedral, after a blessing from the Cathedral’s Acting Dean. It was a great day out, and the sun was shining. Aside from being the perfect autumn day for a motorcycle ride around the Banks Peninsula, a staggering $1,850.00 in total was raised for Susan!!! Way to go, Herceptin Riders! Max is planning another big HR event in October, so watch this space for details as they come to hand."
Our Herceptin Rider is at it again!
Nelson-based Maxine Cook organised the very successful and well publicised Herceptin Peaceful Protest Ride earlier this year where she led a group of motorcyclists on a tour of the North Island to raise awareness of the plight of women who need the 12 months course of Herceptin and must fund raise to pay for it.
At the conclusion of the Protest Ride, Max told BCAC she would continue to work hard at raising money for Herceptin treatments and she is true to her word!
Max is holding a mystery motorcycle ride to contribute towards the staggering $59,000 Susan Marshall (pictured here with Max) must raise for her much needed course of 12 months Herceptin. For more information about Susan, visit her website at www.helpsusan.co.nz.
The event will be held in Christchurch on Saturday May 10 and Max is asking for bike riders to come along with their rides decked out in pink for a morning of great fun.
Assemble at the Christchurch Cathedral Square for a 10.30am departure. The mystery ride will take four hours with three stops, covering about 100kms. Maps will be handed out on the day to keep the journey a secret until the last minute. The ride will take place rain or shine with a back up vehicle in attendance.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re an L-Plate rider, an off-roader, or if you can’t mana ge the full event,” says Max. “As long as your scooter or bike is road legal, we’d love to have you along with us for all or part of the fun.”
It is only $5 to join the ride and bring some extra for a sausage sizzle, raffles and an auction of some biking goodies.
