Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), often considered the gold standard of mindfulness courses, has been widely researched and been shown to reduce anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, along with other benefits such as improvements in immune function, memory and attention.
In addition, when it comes to cancer it's been shown to improve quality of life, reduce fear of recurrence and anxiety, and reduce hormonal related symptoms from treatment. Plus, some studies have suggested that due to boosting the immune system it may also help improve survivorship.
Jan Haworth has had breast cancer herself, and is also a registered Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher. She mostly works in organisations, but aims to run one public course a year. Below are the details for her upcoming course in October. She is offering a discount through BCAC of $150 off the price, please quote BCAC on your application:
(NB: It is Jan's intention that this course is available to all, so if cost is a barrier, please get in touch to discuss options.)
