The Horowhenua Pink Ladies Breast Cancer Support (BCS) Group has had a busy few months. They have welcomed several new members since Christmas so have had a lot of new women in their local area to support.

They enjoy seeing all their members at the monthly meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of every month at the Salvation Army Lounge in Levin - normally there are between 25 and 30 women attending these meetings.

Members of the Pink Ladies have created a promotional stand at two community events in Levin recently – both the Home and Garden Show and also Art in the Park. The group’s aim at these events is to create awareness about the support they offer to those diagnosed with breast cancer, and also to promote breast screening and offer free transport to either Palmerston North or Kapiti for women to attend breast screening appointments.

Their current project is to provide gift vouchers to women as they come out of hospital following treatment. These vouchers entitle them to free hot dinners from one of their big catering firms in Levin. There are several different menus to choose from and the meals are delivered to their door!

The Horowhenua Pink Ladies BCS Group would like to acknowledge the wonderful support they have received from the local community and their larger “parent” Breast Cancer Support group in Auckland.

If you would like to contact the group please email them on: maggieh13@slingshot.co.nz
