Fundraising purpose: Every year, 300 women in the Waikato are diagnosed with breast cancer. That is 1 woman every working day.

The Waikato Breast Cancer Research Trust is headed by Associate Professor and Surgeon Dr Ian Campbell, to improve the outcomes for those diagnosed with breast cancer. The Trust focuses on evidence-based breast cancer research through clinical trials and the Waikato Breast Cancer Register.

The Trust does not receive any government funding, and relies on donations, grants, and fundraising activities.

The Waikato researchers collaborate with other breast cancer research organisations in New Zealand, Australia and internationally. Clinical research trials mean better tailored treatment to provide those diagnosed with breast cancer, best possible outcomes.

THE GOOD NEWS:

  • More women are survivors due to clinical trials
