The Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition is thrilled with the success of its annual Show Your Heart for Women Living with Breast Cancer campaign, which has netted an impressive $71,000.

That money will help fund the revision, printing and distribution of BCAC’s support and information resource Step by Step which is offered free-of-charge to New Zealand women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

BCAC want to say a huge thank you to Arnott’s Tim Tam, Woman’s Day magazine, and Countdown supermarkets for their involvement and support in the Show Your Heart campaign.

BCAC chair, Libby Burgess, says all three companies have made a real difference in the lives of women with breast cancer.

“These organisations can be extraordinarily proud of what they’ve done to support New Zealanders with breast cancer.  Their donations to BCAC will help to fund Step by Step which assists newly diagnosed women to navigate the stress and fear of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.  It’s an enormous gift.”

In particular, BCAC wants to acknowledge the unwavering support of Arnott’s Tim Tams.

Says Libby, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Arnott’s Tim Tam, who’ve been a long-time supporter of BCAC and women with breast cancer.  Their commitment to helping women with breast cancer is second-to-none and we applaud their generosity and willingness to be involved.”

Woman’s Day joined the campaign for the first time this year and Libby says their participation has been invaluable.

“What goes together better than a good magazine and chocolate biscuits?  Woman’s Day was the perfect addition to Arnott’s Tim Tams in our Show Your Heart campaign and we’ve been hugely grateful for their support.”

In addition, BCAC is also thrilled that Countdown supermarkets have continued their involvement with the campaign.

“It’s great to have such a large supermarket chain on board, especially one that is so willing to play its part in the community and assist charities which help to improve the lives of New Zealanders.”

BCAC also wants to pay tribute to all the women who were willing to share their stories publicly in order to raise awareness about breast cancer and BCAC’s fundraising campaign.

“These women were brave enough to share their breast cancer journeys publicly and that’s a big ask.  We truly admire and respect their courage and their desire to help educate others.  These women are heroes and we’re deeply grateful for their support,” Libby says.

And finally, BCAC wants to thank everyone who purchased Arnott’s Tim Tams and Woman’s Day magazines from Countdown throughout the period of the Show Your Heart campaign.

“Every purchase made a difference and helped to boost the donation amount BCAC received.  We’re so appreciative of the efforts everyone made to support BCAC by buying these products.  Thank you so much.”

Work on the third edition of Step by Step is now underway and this should begin to be distributed in 2014.
